About This Course

  • This module, Food Biotechnology, is designed for third-year Licence students specializing in Food Technology and Quality Control. Its objective is to provide students with fundamental knowledge of biotechnology applications in the agri-food sector, with a particular focus on fermentation technology, enzymatic engineering, and microbial bioprocesses used in industrial production.

  • The module also aims to develop students' understanding of bioprocess fundamentals, including the role of microorganisms and biocatalysts, as well as the metabolic mechanisms involved in their industrial use.

Requirements

To complete this course, the student should be able to :

  • Recall fundamental concepts of cell biology and microorganisms.
  • Understand basic principles of biochemistry and enzymes.
  • Describe basic concepts of microbial growth and metabolism.

Dr. Imene KHELOUF is a Maître Assistante Classe B at Yahia Farès University of Médéa, Faculty of Sciences, Department of Agronomy. Her teaching and research interests focus on Food Biotechnology, Food Industries, and agri-food biotechnology.
